Julia A. O’Connor - Chief Executive Officer and Founder

Julie brings to Accelalox the business development skills to build our relationships with pharmaceutical and orthopaedic device companies. She is a seasoned executive with senior management experience in four previous early stage companies where she completed numerous equity financings, strategic partnerships and acquisitions. She also has experience as a consultant to early stage companies, as a venture capitalist and as an investment banker. She has an MBA from Stanford University.

J. Patrick O’Connor, Ph.D. - Chief Scientific Officer and Founder

Dr. O’Connor brings to Accelalox the ability to identify and manage our research roadmap and to combine his knowledge of bone biology with the practical requirements of the physician to successfully bring new therapies to market. Dr. O’Connor has 26 years of research experience, including the molecular, cellular and mechanical aspects of bone regeneration and fracture healing, the role of inflammation in fracture healing, pain management in fracture care, and methods to accelerate tissue regeneration. He is an Assistant Professor at UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School in the Departments of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and Orthopaedics and an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Rutgers University in the Department of Bioengineering. His teaching responsibilities at New Jersey Medical School and his daily contact with orthopaedic surgeons doing clinical research has given him the ability to bridge the research-to-product gap. His research on fracture healing was included (18th) in the “100 Top Science Stories of 2002” by Discover Magazine vol. 24 no. 1, (2003). He is on the editorial board of the Journal of Bone and Mineral Research and chairs our Scientific Advisory Board.
